Prevention of epileptic seizures by targeting canonical transient receptor potential (TRPC) channels in the brain

Description:

10 mg/kg (i.p.) M084 hydrochloride was administered 30 minutes prior to a widely used model of seizure induction in mice (pilocarpine-induced seizure). The TRPC channel antagonist significantly blocked seizure activity, compared to vehicle-injected control animals. We will investigate TRPC channel block for control of seizures in multiple mouse models including chemoconvulsant-induced seizure and traumatic brain injury-induced seizure.
